So you collect an animal. You have found the statues, the pictures, the pillows and the commemorative limited-edition bean-bag baby of your special animal and now they are starting to fill up the house. I have walked into houses with a gaggles of geese, flocks of the owls and prides of lions. In Feng Shui these are symbols. They have an energy and that energy permeates the home. Perhaps this energy is exactly what you want. Perhaps it will help you attract what you want. But before you add another mouse, moose, ox or aardvark to your collection let's take a moment to examine the energy they are bringing.

Animal energies are really easy to read. We start with the most prominent feature of the live example and that gives us a strong clue as to what the energy will be.

Your stuffed Tigger-the-tiger may be cute but he is still a tiger and tigers are known for both stalking their prey and their powerful, impulsive pounce. If you have goals that need your focus, if you need to be shaken out of a rut then tiger-energy is good for you. However if you feel you're the gentle soul being hunted by the hungry then you are on the wrong side of the Tiger/tasty morsel equation.

Or how about your cow collection? Cows, with their docile behavior and self sacrificing nature, bring an energy of hard work and giving. (Come to think of it this might be a perfect motif for a teenagers room.) But if you are already over worked and generous to the point of depleting your own resources you may want to rethink your cow creamer collection or at least not display it so prominently.

Love the high soaring eagle? Eagles and other birds of prey bring aggressive energy which is good for business. And because they can fly above it all they bring an ability to see long range plans. Want an eagle eye? Then a collection of eagles would be great in your office. But if unless you want a little rodent or bunny mate they may be too predatory for your bedroom.

And speaking of bunnies, if they have been multiplying in your house they are bringing in rabbit energy too. Bunnies bring fertility and an awareness of danger. They keep their mouths shut in stressful situations and just hop away. Bunnies are great in the bedroom when a couple is trying to get pregnant. But avoid having a bunny paperweight on your desk, he may just make your inbox multiply.

Sometimes different cultures see animals differently. Is your living room filled with frogs? In China frogs are seen as lucky, attracting business and money. But in the west we have that whole "kiss a frog to find a prince" story to deal with. So if you have placed a frog sitting on piles of coins by your front door then the frog is there to welcome wealth. However if you have decorated your bedroom with Kermit wallpaper don't be surprised if you have a few frogs to go through before you find a prince (or princess).

Each animal has a meaning and each one brings a unique energy. A little bit of that energy can be really good in your life. But be careful in over doing it. Here are a few more animals and their energies.

Zebra-needing to be in a relationship, will take steps to never to be alone

Elephant-desire for a great memory, being slow and methodical but powerful enough to remove obstacles

Cat- remaining independent while in a relationship, ability to come and go as you please

Rooster-in charge, opportunities for leadership, ability to promote one's self

Fish-brings prosperity and abundance (the sea is full of fish), brings options

Week 3: How to Spot a Good One from a Vampire

We need to determine if the other person is safe for us and not an energy-sucking vampire. In the past perhaps you gave your heart to someone who did not cherish it (or worse they ripped it from your chest and tap danced on it while you watched). Week 4: Creating the Relationship Vision
