It's September, my favorite month of the year. This month is
bringing great potential for change. I have certainly been
experiencing it. How about you? This is the month when we think
about school, study and improving ourselves. And I have a few tips
for transitioning back into school. I also have some information
about the upcoming eclipse and how you can use that energy to bring
change into your life. I also have an exciting new Feng Shui Home
Party to talk about. You will find all this and my upcoming class
schedule in this issue. Happy September!

 I love the energy of back-to-school; the fresh pencils, the
clean notebooks, and of course, the new clothes. There is a
sense of potential and a feeling of things that can be
achieved. Now that school time is here may be you have a child
entering school, children returning to school or maybe you are
yourself in school. Here are a few Feng Shui tips to help you
achieve scholastic success.
Consider having a real
study area. Clear out an area of all clutter. Set up a
table or desk that has a view out an window but otherwise few
distractions. Gather together your tools; pens, computer,
paper, dictionaries and so on.
Place a representation
of your goal on your desk. Are you in school to prepare you
for a career such as a doctor then perhaps you have a
stethoscope on your desk. Or maybe you want to be a lawyer so
you may have a law book on your desk. Or maybe you want to an
environmental engineer then perhaps you have a picture of the
earth taken from space. You get the idea.
Get a
timer. In you are a procrastinator try using a timer to
get homework started. Consider setting it for just 20 minutes
and for that 20 minutes give the study your full
concentration. At the end of 20 minutes you can decide if you
want to do 20 more. Take a break at the end of an hour. If you
are completely present and focused on the study for even 20
minutes you will accomplish more than hours of half-hearted
concentration.
Add the color yellow. Yellow has
a good vibration for stimulating the memory. Place yellow on
the desk or on the walls and it will help you retain what you
are reading. Write on a yellow pad when you take notes. Or
even consider wearing the color yellow when you have a lot of
memorizing to do.
Get some help from Confucius.
Confucius was a philosopher who lived from 551-479 BC. He
taught simple principles: love one another, rule by virtuous
example, honor your parents, etc. He believed by following
these industrious virtues one could become successful while
helping others prosper. Confucius was also known for his
emphasis on education and study. Consider placing the image of
Confucius or some other great scholar in your study area as an
inspiration and a reminder of the benefits of education.

| September Eclipses |
|
 About every six months there is a two second blurb on the
local news announcing a pair of eclipses and we are having
just such a pair in September. (Though the eclipses were a bit
over-shadowed by Pluto being downgraded from it's former
planet status). An eclipse, from an Astrological standpoint,
means that you have an opportunity to change something in your
life. Usually something in our lives is not going great but we
haven't taken action to change because we are busy, or
uncertain, or scared, or blocked. Then along comes the eclipse
and whatever wasn't working becomes unbearable or just rears
up and bites us. Suddenly we feel very motivated to deal with
it. But the good news is that once we have taken action and
made a change things are better. Things are so much better we
look back on the time of the eclipse and say "wow, I am really
glad I went through that" or at least we say "thank goodness,
that's over with" as we stagger around with little cartoon
stars twirling around our heads.
So here is the 'who',
'when' and 'what to do' for these eclipses. Who is getting
hit? And when is it happening? For the Lunar Eclipse on
September 7th it is people who are Virgo, Pisces, Gemini and
Sagittarius (and for those of you with Astrological knowledge
it also hits planets with a hard aspect to 15 degrees Pisces,
5 degree orb). For the Solar Eclipse on September 22nd at 29
degrees of Virgo those who were born on the cusp of
Virgo/Libra, Pisces/Aries, Gemini/Cancer, and
Sagittarius/Capricorn will all feel it. And for the final
question about what to do about it we turn to author, Diane
Ronngren who wrote in her book, Eclipse!, "Eclipses
bring the possibility of action". She goes on to say, "...the
likelihood of the future being different than the past, is
based on our willingness to change, and on whether or not we
take determined action, in order to facilitate change in our
behavior and our lives". So find some aspect of your life you
want to change and take some immediate action on it. If you
can't take the action alone enlist a friend's help. But even a
small change can yield some great results.

Feng Shui and Color
A study was released this
year that Olympic wrestlers that wore the color red were more
likely to be victorious over their opponents who wore blue
even though the color worn by each was chosen by a coin toss.
The scientists who did the study were baffled at the results,
but in Feng Shui we are not. Color is energy. Certain colors
can make you happy, make you sad, improve your health, improve
your concentration, and even help your love life. In this
class we will discuss the energy and meaning of color and how
the color in your home, your office and even in your wardrobe
can be used to help you live a happy, healthier, more
prosperous life.

A Personal Note from Donna Stellhorn |

What a difference a month makes.
In the month
of August we moved both home (including two pets) and business
from Boston, MA to Phoenix, AZ. We tried to keep everything up
and running as much as possible but I know dropped the ball
and missed lots of your calls and emails (very sorry for
that). So if I didn't get back to you please call or email me
again.
Driving two pets across country is quite an
experience. The dog, wearing her driving harness attached to
the seatbelt, was happy as can be until we reached a toll
booth. Cristal, my protective German Shepherd, wasn't thrilled
that a strange man was reaching toward my car. The barking was
deafening. And there are a lot of toll booths between Boston
and Phoenix. Mr. Xander, our cat, in his pillow-lined carrier,
settled down in grumpy silence for most of the trip. After a
few days in hotels they were both so used to the routine that
the morning after we arrived at the new house I found Cristal
waiting by the door and Mr. Xander in his carrier ready to go
on to the next 'hotel'.
In September I will be
visiting the Tulsa, OK area and seeing if there is an interest
in Feng Shui classes there. In October I hope to be visiting
the Pacific Northwest to firm up my class schedule for 2007.
And then I am back in Boston in November. There are more
details about my upcoming schedule on my website.
