Rat is the first sign of the Chinese Zodiac and signifies new beginnings. This is the year to set things into motion and begin new ventures that can bring long-term success. You may find yourself spending lavishly at one moment and penny-pinching the next. This year there will be time to have fun with family and friends, join clubs, and even pay a little attention to yourself. Rat years are very busy years, but we all know it's the busy person who gets a lot done. It's important this year to avoid any petty disagreements and it is best not to gossip. This year, concentrate on your own positive traits and recognize your inborn talents and you will go far.

While Rat years tend to bring the promise of financial success they are not years to take big risks. Rats in general are cautious, and often gain luck through hard work and patience.
